Services

I offer services in three main areas- (limited) individual therapy, program evaluation, and programming services using SPSS and Visual Basic.

(limited) individual therapy: I offer limited individual therapy, family therapy, and couples therapy services, and am comfortable with a wide range of presenting issues, including high risk behaviors. Please note that I only offer full fidelity DBT services through the Portland DBT Institute, and depending on presenting issue, I may ask you to refer yourself to the Portland DBT Institute so I can work with you there. I am happy to work with insurance companies and offer sliding scale services- I believe not taking insurance benefits the therapist and not the client, which seems counter to the goal of therapy. Examples of presenting issues I work with are:

  • Depression, including adjustment related depression
  • Anxiety, including social anxiety and generalized anxiety
  • Self-harm behaviors, thoughts of suicide, other high risk behaviors
  • Drug and alcohol abuse
  • Relationship counseling
  • Phase of life issues/job searching/time structuring
  • Issues related to trauma
  • Mood disorders such as Bipolar Disorder
  • Attentional issues

Program Evaluation: I have worked in program evaluation for over twenty years on both coasts of the US. My work has been used to advocate for (and secure) additional program funding, evaluate what works and does not work about specific interventions, and craft public policy and law in a variety of states. I can provide comprehensive evaluation ranging from a full needs assessment to infrastructure creation to research design and more.  While a good proportion of my evaluation tasks are covered by non-disclosure agreements, a decent number are not, and I’m happy to share them with you if you want to know more.

Programming Services: I have a staggeringly comprehensive knowledge of two esoteric programs- SPSS and Visual Basic. I have done SPSS syntax scripting for agencies and states across the country (cutting my teeth on doing Medicaid analyses on a vax mainframe….), and specialize in creating meaningful datasets from data sources not originally designed for data analysis. In addition, I use Visual Basic to give Microsoft Access additional functionality, and can create custom software which is easily deployable and maintained to assist with things such as client tracking, session scheduling, EMR reporting, and more.  Feel free to get in touch and ask for samples.
